LET YOUR EMPLOYEES HAVE THEIR DAMN HOLIDAY!
It’s the end of the year and most of us are looking forward to some R&R Family time during the next few days.
Can you identify with the below scenarios?
Having been a victim of this one too many times on various companies throughout my career, I have a few suggestions for mitigating this (or at least try)
BOSSES
- Ensure to plan the holiday work plan and brief the relevant Team Leads / employees
- Let the Team Leads / Team members communicate, don’t get involved
- Make a mindful attempt to ‘Let Go’ for a few days
- Try not to email / WhatsApp / Call unless absolutely needed
- Ask employees about holiday plans and Genuinely wish them well
* MONITOR WORK AND HAVE CONTINGENCIES IN PLACE!
EMPLOYEES
- Ensure that there is NO pending work on your part
- Update your Team members / Boss about your holiday plan (casually)
- Plan for the holiday workload and update Team and Boss
- Make it a point to check in on things at least once a day just to make sure ALL IS OK :-)
