Life Lessons From My Hemorrhoid Banding

I have always suffered from issues with my digestive system and I have constantly been constipated since I was a kid. I think that I first noticed bleeding piles when I was about 25 years old, I didn’t really pay much attention to it. Then when I was 35, during a period of extreme stress which followed the passing of a beloved uncle, the piles had turned into bleeding haemorrhoids and I had to undergo my first Colonoscopy and was given an injection to shrink them. Then last year when I was 41, following the death of my Father from Colon cancer, my haemorrhoids got really bad and I the doctor immediately recommended a full colonoscopy, during which a procedure called a Banding was done. Given that I was already in a lot of pain, the procedure itself was not that bad — and somehow, a tube with a camera being shoved up my ass into my Colon was tolerable. But almost immediately after I came back to the room, after the anesthetic wore off and the adrenaline did not know what to do, my ass literally became a ‘pain in my ass’.

If there is Pain, you will pay attention
