STRESS-PECTIVE: OVERWORKED OR WRONG WORK?

The traditional take on Stress is that “we are overworked”.

Either we are doing a LOT of the same kind of job task or we are doing many DIFFERENT kinds of job tasks (and maybe a lot of it).

What I have learnt from having done a ‘lot of different kind of work’ in my 15+ jobs in the last 16 years is that, ‘it is not so much about HOW MUCH’ we do, but rather it is about the ‘KIND OF’ things that we do on a daily basis.

If you find yourself procrastinating seemingly easy tasks, avoiding complex tasks (assuming in both cases, that you have the technical knowledge to execute), if you are daydreaming on the job (if you would rather be somewhere else), if you are finding it difficult to sleep at night (despite having a long and engaging day), if you have to talk yourself into getting out of bed in the morning…

…you probably need to evaluate your Job, if it is in-sync with you, as an individual and as a person.

What happens most often is, because you have got a degree in a certain discipline or have worked in a certain industry or have done a certain kind of job task, you are reluctant to even consider another path.

Don’t let anything else stop you. Just ask yourself “is what I do on a daily basis at my job, helping me be the best person that I can be, or is it turning me in to a different kind of person’?

Dig deep and you shall find your Passion!
